Becky Davis, Owner
Becky leads A Spice of Life with the same energy and care she brings to every event. Her relationships with clients, vendors, and the broader Boulder community are the foundation the business runs on.
A Spice of Life has catered Boulder and the Denver metro since 1987, more than 35 years of events of every kind. Today the company is led by owners Becky Davis and Penni Walsh, with a hands-on, relationship-first philosophy that shows up in everything we touch. We have earned Best of Boulder Gold from 2007 to 2021 and Silver in 2022 and 2023. We are not a faceless operation. We are a tight-knit Boulder team with deep roots in the community we cook for.
Here is what full-service really means. You hand off every detail, from setup to breakdown, and we carry it. Every event is assigned a named coordinator, one real person and one direct line of accountability, who builds a custom menu around the occasion, your guests, and any dietary needs. You show up, enjoy the party, and let the team handle the rest. That is the whole idea: you are a guest at your own event.
Across all of it, we have built lasting relationships, including preferred-venue partnerships and institutional clients like the Boulder Chamber of Commerce. See the full range of what we do on our catering services page.
The difference is the relationship. Every client gets a named coordinator, not a rotation of unfamiliar staff, who manages logistics from the first planning conversation through the final course. Our reviews say it best: guests and clients name specific team members as the reason they come back. And when plans change fast, we show up. Our team has stepped in for a wedding with as few as five days’ notice. That is the kind of reliability you only get from people who treat your event like their own.

Penni co-owns and co-leads A Spice of Life alongside Becky, bringing decades of operational experience and a deep commitment to the company's quality standards.
Michael leads our kitchen team, bringing creativity and precision to every menu. His focus on local and sustainable sourcing reflects the values A Spice of Life was built on.
Every menu is custom, scaling from an intimate dinner to a 200-person celebration without losing the detail. Dietary accommodation is a real specialty here, including gluten-free menus and celiac cross-contamination protocols, a difference our clients document in their reviews. The goal is simple: every guest at the table feels genuinely considered. And wherever we can, we source from Colorado producers, so the food reflects the place we call home.
Being a Boulder company means something to us. We compost, we use eco-friendly serviceware at events, and we partner on food donation to keep good food out of the landfill. We source from Colorado producers wherever we can, connecting our menus to the region we call home. These are relationships built over more than three decades, not a company that parachutes in for a weekend. When you work with us, you are working with people who share the values Boulder cares about.
Ask our clients and they tell the same story. They name the coordinator who made the night feel effortless. They mention how their gluten-free and celiac needs were handled without a second thought. And they describe the best part, getting to be a guest at their own event. That is the experience we build for, every single time.
Let's get cooking. We work by consultation, no menus until we understand your event, your guests, and what you want the day to feel like. So reach out and start a conversation, not a form. A real person, not a bot, will get back to you, and we will build the plan together.
